Kaspersky™ labs have been providing an undisputable service in the field of malware detection since it was founded in the year of 1997 by Natalia and Eugene Kaspersky in Russian Federation. They had been declared as the fourth largest antivirus solutions providing company in the year of 2008 by IDC. The Kaspersky™ engine is so popular that it has not only been used by Kaspersky™ but much other reputed companies have taken license to use it as their main antivirus engine. Such as Juniper Networks, F Secure, Clear swift, Front bridge, Checkpoint, Cybari and many more. Kaspersky™ has developed a new line of product in the year of 2011, which comes under the brand name of Kaspersky Antivirus 2011™ and Kaspersky Internet security 2011™.
It was devised in a way so that they provide proactive defense against any malware activity, which not only scans your system for active and dormant infections when you want it to do, but it does so automatically in the background. However, this facility has been provided by many antivirus recently, but what we forget to notice about it is, even though it works in background how much system resources is being exploited. I have personally used various Antivirus products and found, Kaspersky Antivirus 2011™ to be less resource hungry than others (even some previous versions).
The Kaspersky Labs™ also introduces the new system watcher technology, which keeps on monitoring the modification of files in real time and asks you for the decision when its AI is unable to find a predefined status of the modification. Another new feature includes the current installations to be used as a bootable device when, a computer is heavily infected and cannot boot on its own. It removes the need of downloading a live operating system. It is also designed to fight the rootkits, which are one of the most deadly and tries to fight of the antivirus, by remaining hidden as much as possible.
With the new version of 2011, Kaspersky Labs™ also introduced the desktop gadget and a drag and drop scanning system, which helps the users who are in a hurry to scan for a infected files in pendrive or so and it also always displays the current status report from antivirus engine. The smart installer mode of the product detects any sign of infection in case the installation fails and offers to download the AVP tool to reap off the infection before going for an reinstallation.
The advanced parental control of the Kaspersky Antivirus 2011™ has many inbuilt features which makes sure, kids do not fall in to the wrong side of the internet. It provides protection against games unsuitable for kids by detecting the signatures of Game rating and Age rating. It provides Email control by checking the database for mails coming from pornographic and other kind of adult websites which can be harmful for kids. It also makes sure that any one is not allowed to make payment through payment gateways, on basis of which its AI was trained to do before.
A very necessary feature that is provided inbuilt into the Kaspersky™ product was the introduction of Virtual Keyboard, even though it is available in the Windows system, people mostly forgets to use it in many payment processing websites as it is required to open separately for the sites which does not provide keyboards on page. If you are using Mozilla Firefox the virtual keyboard will be sitting on the top right corner of you browser and you can invoke it any time by a single click of your mouse button.
With the new upgrade of 2011, the detection of online malware spreading through injections of malware code using java scripts rouge active x installs and other such things has been more successful. Nowadays, it not required for you to click on a infected file in order to get infected by a viruses. It can be done by redirecting you to a compromised website and have your browser infected which in turn will open a pathway to download and install the mother load file. This process is capable of making your computer a zombie working under the command of the master, and makes it do things, which are heinous crime in the face of law and you would have never done if you knew. Ranging from credit card fraud, money laundering to attack on government and other institutions. Thanks to Kaspersky Labs™ as they have been known to release the fastest update for new infections occurring throughout the World.
However there are some flaws too in this software, such as you might get false positives while testing for infected file. A virus can have various can have various trends in the same group especially if it’s a polymorphic virus. So what the antivirus does is it searches for the piece of code which remains constant in all the strain and then find the same code in different program, it is declared as a variant of the original virus. Even though the whole process is not so simple as I told here and depends on many parameters, defined by researchers. So, this process is done, you can understand that if the Anti Virus program finds the same piece of code even in a perfectly clean program, it will declare it as a false positive. However in real it should not, for that purpose the other parameters are provided. But in Kaspersky Antivirus 2011™ program, it has been found to give a high rate of false positive alarms, which is undesirable.
It has also been complained by some users that Kaspersky Antivirus 2011 has a part in their machines boot-up process. However I personally never had this issue and won’t consider it to be valid without sufficient proof. As per my discretion it has been providing with much valued service in the protection and security of our company computers from a long time and deserves to be tried out by everyone at least once.
